BIOGRAPHY

Yasser M. Madany is an Assistant Professor (Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering | ECE) at Air Defense College, Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt. He is member of the Association of Egyptian Engineers (AEE) [since 1994], Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) [since 2001], European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP) [since 2014], Asian Advanced Materials Congress (ASAMC) Advisory / Organizing Committee Member [since 2016], Arab Experts Network (AEN) [since 2020], International Union of Radio Science (URSI[since 2021], The IEEE Consumer Technology Society Technical Member (CTSoc) [since 2021]. Dr. Madany is currently Head of Engineering Education and Assistant Director of the College for Scientific Research at the Air Defense College (ADC), Senior member, IEEE, and  URSI Senior Member.

Dr. Madany received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), specialization in Antennas and Wave Propagation from Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt, in 1994, 2002 and 2005, respectively. He has published more than 80 research papers regarding antennas (microstrip – fractal – bandgap – radar – wireless – active – nanowires), microstrip array antennas (planar – switched – phased – smart – MIMO), numerical methods in computational electromagnetics (MOM – FDTD – FEM), microstrip transmission lines and filters, waveguide and waveguide structures, RF pulse compression systems and technologies, smart guidance technologies, CRLH-TL and metamaterial technologies and applications, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) guidance and technologies, radar theory; design and analysis (monostatic – bistatic), microwave engineering (radar – communication) applications, navigation sensor applications, radio frequency identification (RFID) applications, smart communications network systems and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) design and technologies.

Dr. Madany has supervised numerous graduation projects (more than 50 project) and M.Sc. and Ph.D. postgraduate degrees (more than 16 theses). He was a technical program committee member in many international conferences, journals [IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components, the Electron Devices Society, Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES), IET, “Radar, Sonar & Navigation”, IET, “Microwave, Antennas & Propagation”, ELSEVIER, Computing and Digital Systems (IJCDS), Microwave], and SciTech Publishing, Inc. He was engineering laboratory consultant for many fields. Dr. Madany has served as the Technical Program Chair for the 2021 International Telecommunications Conference, ITC-Egypt’2021 and Editor-in-Chief, International Journal of Telecommunications, IJT.

Dr. Madany was included in Who's Who in the World, published in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 editions, respectively, included in Who's Who in Science and Engineering in the 2011-2012 and 2016-2017 editions and included in the 2017, and 2018 Albert Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who's Who.


 

Dear IEEE Members, Egypt section

I hope all are fine and healthy. Based on the email I received from the Nomination and Elections Committee of IEEE Egypt section, it is my honor, pleasure, and confidence in the esteemed Committee, that I intend to nominate myself for the position of IEEE Egypt section Chairman.

Personal conviction of the importance and role of IEEE and my membership in IEEE for more than twenty years gives me enthusiasm to achieve a future vision of the IEEE Egypt section in a manner befitting the Egypt section members and complementing the path of achievements made by previous chairmen over the years.

My proposal plan during the 2022-2024 term to meet the continuity of success of the IEEE Egypt section to provide high-quality opportunities for members and continuous engagement, is based on three main directions:

  1. IEEE Members.
  2. IEEE Egypt section.
  3. Cooperation.
 
The Proposed action plan for the term 2022-2024 is as follows:
 
  • IEEE Members:
    1. Motivating members to participate in various section activities.
    2. Improving service performance for members to the greatest extent possible by granting IEEE members all available privileges.
    3. Planning to implement (1-2) banquets for all members to increase interaction and develop the cooperation between members to support the various activities in the section.
    4. Achieving the aspirations and requirements of the members and surmounting the difficulties as much as possible by carrying out a (2-3) opinion poll for all members to identify strengths and weaknesses firsthand and improve the performance of the section permanently.
    5. Increasing interest in the IEEE student members and encouraging them to participate in competitions and exhibitions to develop the spirit of joint teamwork and create cadres capable of innovation and excellence.
  • IEEE Egypt section:
    1. Increasing the activation of the section's role in the various local technical activities.
    2. Planning for the section's participation in international technical activities as much as possible.
    3. Strengthening the role of student activities for members and non-members of IEEE.
    4. Encourage specialists and engineers to participate in IEEE to expand the section's circle and maximize its role in developing the capabilities of students and young members.
    5. Planning to implement technical activities in the name of the section (conferences, competitions, seminars, and others) as much as possible to maximize the section's role locally and internationally.
  • Cooperation:
    1. Improving section performance by collaborating with the IEEE societies to implement joint technical activities.
    2. Increasing cooperation with Egyptian universities and scientific academies through the implementation of cooperation protocols with the goal of creating a distinguished scientific climate that serves the Egyptian state's orientations.
    3. Expand cooperation with region 8 to which the section is affiliated and good coordination on the possibility of the section's participation in the activities of the region or with members of the section if possible.
    4. Benefiting from the experiences of previous IEEE Egypt section chairmen and implementing seminars to impart expertise to IEEE section members to create a new generation capable of managing the section in the future.
